Calculating the CO2 emission level of a shoe is a long, complex and very costly process.
The analysis of this process is the necessary prerequisite for knowing the real level of environmental impact of the finished product and for defining an adequate reaction strategy.
It is on the basis of these simple but fundamental considerations that AKU decided to go first in the footwear sector outdoor, the emissions calculation certification project carbon dioxide of their models.
The aim of the initiative was to look better within oneself, to know in depth every aspect of one's production organisation, from design to the end of life of the product and to understand how
this process impacts on the environment, with particular reference to
CO2 emissions, the greenhouse gas that results more than any other
today responsible for global warming and the resulting climate emergency.

The project, guided by the ISO 14067:2018 standards, required the collection of a wide and detailed range of information, intended for the creation of a database that today allows AKU to precisely define the quantity of CO2 emitted for production and distribution of each individual model.
A commitment in terms of transparency towards the end user and an analysis initiative that will allow our company to act on the critical factors of the production process, working towards the constant reduction of environmental impact , with the aim of achieving neutrality climate.
