THE RIGHT THING

AKU AND SPORTSYSTEM SUSTAINABILITY NETWORK

Ecological transition

Ecological transition, green deal, responsible action... sustainability . There is a lot of talk about it, many people talk about it, sometimes too much and not always with full knowledge of the facts. A concrete commitment for some , a marketing and communication asset for all. Inside and outside the outdoor market, a habitat in which today brands that are pioneers of this spirit coexist with those who, looking around, have understood that it is better to start getting busy in view of a future in which operating in this direction will no longer be an option, but a real obligation. Moving from words to actions to work concretely and on solid foundations to an evolution of the way in which to design and produce, limiting the environmental impact but without claiming to declare themselves sustainable or zero impact. Doing it alone? Difficult, perhaps not impossible for some, but very problematic for everyone, if the goal is to truly impact reality and determine a change of direction that transforms, without distorting it, a production system that needs to be rethought in terms of greater compatibility with the environment that hosts it.
Fondazione Sportsystem , an organization that brings together companies belonging to the historic footwear district of Asolo and Montebelluna, has taken up the challenge with the creation of the Sportsystem Sustainability Network , a permanent working group with operational functions, made up of some of the most representative brands in the outdoor footwear industry , united by the common goal of doing the right thing together.
AKU is proudly part of it , for having promoted this group vision from the very beginning, which overcomes the rivalries imposed by market competition by making the best resources and skills available in order to achieve a result that will benefit everyone.

5 leading companies in the sports system

The sports system industry is experiencing a challenging and delicate transition towards a sustainable economy . Europe's stringent demands to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, combined with the growing consumer focus on product sustainability, are presenting our companies with entirely new challenges that require coordination and collaboration to be better addressed.
In this context, an initiative is born that marks an epochal change: the creation, by 5 leading companies in the sports system , of a collaboration network on environmental sustainability projects in the field of technical and sports footwear.
The Network sees the participation of 5 implementing partners ( Alpinestars, AKU, La Sportiva, Scarpa, Tecnica ) and Fondazione Sportsystem as coordinating partner.

The Network's objectives:

  • The establishment of a permanent working table to share information and best practices on issues related to product environmental sustainability;
  • The development of joint projects related to environmental sustainability issues in line with the priorities of the European agenda (Green Deal);
  • The definition of shared standards, approaches, methodologies and organizational solutions.

Fondazione Sportsystem has among its statutory objectives that of promoting the comparison and exchange of ideas in order to start entrepreneurial synergies and innovative development projects, as well as that of researching and adopting systems, products and services for the common benefit and for the performance of business and industrial activities.
We are therefore proud to have given our seal to the creation of a network of companies that, overcoming competitive logic, decide to pool their experiences and knowledge for the benefit of our entire sector. An ambitious and far-sighted initiative , deliberately open to all companies in the district that in the future want to share the same vision and the same goals.
Our applause to the 5 companies that have signed this historic agreement, which we hope will soon be extended to other companies, and act as a trailblazer for other collaborations and projects between our companies. We are certain that united, although different, we will be able to express the needs of the sector with ever greater force, for the benefit of the entire District .”
